The Discipleship Process
“…Jesus said to them, ‘Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.’” - Mark 1:17 (ESV)
Mark 1:17 is Jesus Christ’s invitation to flawed people. Within the words of this verse, we see the steps of the discipleship process. The invitation to become Jesus’ disciple is an invitation to learn of Jesus, allow what you are learning to change your life, and guide others through this same discipleship process. Discipleship is the way we grow in our relationship with Christ. This is how Christians mature.
What is the discipleship Process?
Saturation
For the believer, prolonged exposure to Jesus never stops because being as close as possible to Jesus is our highest goal. As we remain connected to Christ through the Scriptures, prayer, fellowship with believers, serving others, and countless other acts of devotion, we become saturated with the knowledge of Jesus.
Transformation
We repent of our disobedience to Him, and our heart's desire changes to wanting to obey Jesus. We respond to His love, grace, goodness, and mercy by becoming someone we could have never been by following a set of rules.
multiplication
As we near new heights of maturity as Jesus’ disciples, our hearts begin to long to contribute more and more to His kingdom. We multiply ourselves by investing our time and maturity into other believers who are teachable and eager to grow into all that Christ has purposed for them.
Our strategy to help you grow in christ
Sunday Morning worship service
At the end of the message in Sunday morning service, you will have an opportunity to apply the message to your life and take your next step toward Jesus. Our services are open to everyone. Come as you are and make a friend at church!
Small group study groups
These groups gather weekly to discuss the Scriptures, pray for each other, and offer support as we grow together. This setting offers a more intense discipleship format because discipleship happens best within relationships.
1 on 1 Discipleship relationships
This is a regular private meeting that brings a mentor and someone who wants to grow in their faith together for the purpose of guidance, training, and coaching. At Doctor’s Creek Baptist Church, men are discipled by other men, and women are discipled by other women.
